NIN Appointment Instructions

Mandatory Documents for New NIN Enrollment : Court Affidavit and Digital Birth Certificate or Birth Attestation from National Population Commission -DO NOT SCHEDULE BIO METRIC APPOINT IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THEM.
To avoid delays, inconvenience, or the need to reschedule, please carefully review and follow all instructions before coming to your appointment.

All applicants must complete the necessary pre-registration processes and bring all required documents to the appointment. Failure to do so will prevent the enrollment process from proceeding, and you will be required to re-schedule your Bio metrics appointment.
- Required Documents for New NIN Enrollment
Regardless of any other form of identification you currently possess — including a Birth Certificate, Nigerian Passport, Declaration of Age, Local Government Birth Certificate, or Birth Certificate issued by the National Population Commission (NPC) — The following documents are mandatory for new NIN enrollment:
- Valid Nigerian Passport(Expired or Current)
- Court Affidavit (required for new enrollment only)
- National Population Commission (NPC) Digital Birth Certificate or Digital Birth Attestation
- What to Bring to Your Appointment
Please come to your appointment with the following:
- Declaration of Age Affidavit
- Digital Birth Attestation Certificate/Code (With your Correct First, Middle & Last Name)
- Nigerian Passport (Valid or Expired)
- Credit or Debit Card for payment of NIMC Biometric Service Fees during your appointment
- Appointment Rescheduling/Cancellation
- Appointments may only be rescheduled at least 24 hours before the scheduled appointment time.
- If you fail to reschedule within this period, you will be required to book a new appointment.
- Incomplete Documentation Policy
If you arrive without all the required documents (such as Nigerian Passport, Affidavit, Birth Attestation Code, or NIMC Payment Receipt):
- No agent will be able to attend to you.
- Your appointment cannot proceed.
- You will be required to schedule a new appointment, which may result in a loss of time and money.
- Dress Code
- You may wear any color except white for your biometric appointment.
- Please do not wear clothing with a human face, portrait, or graphic image printed on the front, as it may interfere with the biometric capture process.
Please ensure that all documents and requirements are complete before arriving for your appointment to avoid delays or rescheduling.

Without your Digital Birth Certificate or Birth Attestation, NIMC will NOT process your enrollment.
No Walk-Ins. Appointment Only.
New NIN applicants MUST bring, regardless of any other ID you have:
- Valid Nigerian Passport
- Court Affidavit (new enrollment only)
- Digital Birth Certificate / Birth Attestation
Also bring: Declaration of Age Affidavit, and a Credit/Debit Card to pay NIMC fees at your appointment.
Dress Code: No white clothing. No shirts with a face/portrait/graphic on the front.
Missing documents = no agent can attend to you, and you will need to reschedule. Reschedule at least 24 hours before your appointment time.

OBTAIN YOUR AFFIDAVITS AND SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT
OPTION 1: Do It Yourself (You are on your own)
- You may obtain your court affidavit and statutory declaration of age independently.
- You are responsible for the entire process.
- Please do not contact Mercyland Inc. for guidance or information.
- Contact the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja
OPTION 2: Fast-Track Service (Recommended)
- Obtain your NIN Court Affidavit(s) within 72 Nigerian working hours. After which, you can apply for your Digital Birth Attestation Certificate
- Non-refundable processing Fees: $25.00 –
- You will be required to schedule a Biometric appointment during this session.
- Note that Mercyland Inc charges $20.00 Non-Refundable Administrative fee
NOTE: Nigeria Statutory Declaration of Age Affidavits is for Nigerians born in Nigeria with Valid or expired Nigeria International Passport
Birth Certificate Verification

- Click on Services
- Select your services
- After selecting your service, you will be required to create an account.
- Processing Fees: $21.00 (Non-Refundable)
- Select Your Service after Login
- Birth Attestation (Self-Service):
- For individuals aged 18 and above.
- Born in Nigeria, I have a Nigerian passport.
- Temporary attestation is available for those without an NIN.
- Birth Registration (Self Service)
- For children under the age of 5 years,
- Must be born in Nigeria
- Either of the child’s parents must be Nigerian and have a valid birth certificate.
- Foreign Birth Notification:
- For children who are not born in Nigeria
- Either of the child’s parent must be a Nigerian and have a National Identification Number (NIN)
- Click Privacy Information Requirement
- Scroll down and click each of the privacy notices and follow the prompt (make sure you have a check mark)
- Click the consent
- Click attestation
- Enroll and follow the prompt
- Make Payment (Only Mastercard Accepted)
- Print all documents, including your Temporary Attestation Code.
- The next step is to visit the NIMC website to make an NIN payment.
WARNING AND SPECIAL NOTE: PRINT AND COME TO YOUR APPOINTMENT WITH YOUR CERTIFICATE NUMBER. WITHOUT IT WE CANNOT VERIFY YOUR IDENTITY
Fees & Turnaround
Option 1 – Fast-Track (Recommended): Ready within 24 Nigerian working hours. Total fee: $138.00 (National Population processing $33.00 + application/certificate $80.00 + Mercyland Inc. fee $25.00, all non-refundable). Call Mercyland Inc. at 832-402-0733 with questions.
Option 2 – Do It Yourself: National Population processing $32.00 + application/certificate $80.00 (both non-refundable). You are responsible for the entire process through the National Population Commission (FCT), Abuja. Please do not contact Mercyland Inc. for guidance.
Note: Nigeria Statutory Birth Certificate Attestation is for Nigerians born in Nigeria with a valid or expired Nigerian passport, and for those born abroad.
Make Payment to NIMC and Pre-Registration.
Note: You may skip this step if you are having issues making a payment; you will make the payment during your appointment.
BVN Update & Reactivation of Suspended NIN
Important Notes:
- Court Affidavit is not required
- Digital Birth Attestation is not required
- Your NIN and/or BVN are required
BVN Update (for BVN-generated NIN): $100.00 (Non-Refundable)
Re-Activate Suspended NIN: $50.00 (Non-Refundable)
Only a biometric appointment and NIMC fee payment are required for either service.
NIMC SELF-SERVICE NIN MODIFICATION:
UPDATE YOUR NAME (FREE SELF SERVICE)
NIMC Self Service Modification allows for the change of Name, Phone Number, Date of Birth, and address for free.
Other NIN Services
Child Enrollment (foreign birth, Nigerian parent) – $75.00: Obtain Digital Birth Certificate Verification → Schedule Biometric Appointment → Make NIMC Payment.
Child-to-Adult Migration – $50.00: Schedule Biometric Appointment → Make NIMC Payment.
BVN Enrollment (New BVN Application) – $100.00: Schedule BVN Appointment → Make BVN Fee Payment during your appointment. BVN Agent: Michael Oyesomi.
Other Services (Print Slip or NIN Number) – Schedule Biometric Appointment → Make NIMC Payment.
Self-Modification is free and does not require an appointment. If you also need Court Affidavit or Digital Birth Attestation documents for your personal records, we recommend obtaining both.
